Today Eric Ray and I led a bird walk in Riverside Park in Victoria. We birded
along the Guadalupe River and finished at Grover's Bend. It was a beautiful
spring-like day, and we finished with a respectable tally of 31 species.
Highlights included a very early Northern Parula, Roseate Spoonbill (5), Belted
Kingfisher (2), Osprey, Crested Caracara, White-eyed Vireo (3), Chipping
Sparrow (7), Blue Jay (5), Anhinga (3), Pileated Woodpecker, Red-shouldered
Hawk (3), and Red-tailed Hawk (2). A total 22 birders participated. The Museum
of the Coastal Bend, where Eric is Curator, sponsored the event. we will lead
additional walks on March 15 and 19 at 8:30 am at the park.  A complete eBird
checklist is at: http://ebird.org/ebird/hotspot/L569909Â The above link should ;
