Hey there,
Birded several locations around Wise County yesterday, mainly around Lake
Bridgeport. From Wise County Park had a Common Tern in a huge flock of
Forster’s; it will be pretty hard to re-find because there were so many FOTE.
When I first saw it it was the second one on the left of the flock, so easy to
see. Got some pics. There was also a Red-headed Woodpecker, but I only saw it
as it was flying away and was never able to re-find it. Also had a red-shafted
NOFL. Not many ducks on the lake, mainly Ring-billed Gulls and Forster’s Terns.
Poking around county roads filled out a list of ~70 birds for the day with some
good but expected birds like Pine Siskins, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Sandhill
Crane, Dark-eyed Junco, Western Meadowlark, Brown Thrasher, and Greater
Roadrunner. Lots of Harris’s Sparrows and other Zonotrichias.
A flooded field just east of the Trinity on 114/380 in-between Lake Bridgeport
and Bridgeport was full of waterbirds including a Wilson’s Snipe, Greater
Yellowlegs, and a Franklin’s Gull.
All the titmice I saw were clearly hybrids, but eBird wasn’t happy about it.

Good birding,

Common Tern 1 Tern the size surrounding FOTE but with fully black
nape/hind-crown. Bill slightly thinner, appeared to droop a little more. Black
carpal bar immediately obvious. Flight feathers darker gray, with some darker
markings on flight feathers. Possibly a first year bird with that amount of
black in flight feathers, especially in secondaries.

foraging over the surrounding lake.

kept going. Big white secondary patches were the only field mark I saw on the
silhouetted bird.
