One white-tipped dove flushed near the Rail Trail intersection with Heron Flats
Trail this morning. This bird is rather rare for this region of Texas. A
long-billed thrasher was scratching in dead leaves on the North end of the
Heron Flats Trail. Also of note were many greater yellowlegs, avocets, and a
fairly large flock of white-faced ibis, which of late I havn't been observing
at the refuge. Wilson's snipe flushed from the Rail Trail this morning and a
good flock of wild turkeys were on the main road. The painted redstart was
calling near the visitor center.
