Texbirders,
The West Texas Hummer Cam is now live for viewers that want to tune in.
Keep in mind that spring migration in west Texas is not very dynamic.
Broad-tails, Black-chins and Magnificents are currently making regular
visits to the feeder. However, keep an eye out for anything else that
might appear. Be sure to capture a screen shot if you spot something
rare. Once fall migration arrives for these creatures, in early July, then
the action with pick up considerably as well as species diversity.
Songbird sounds that can be heard now include Black-headed Grosbeak,
Spotted Towhee, Acorn Woodpecker, Black-crested Titmouse, Hutton's Vireo,
Plumbeous Vireo and others but keep an ear open for an occasional Grace's
Warbler and Painted Redstart. Night sounds will include Western
Screech-Owl, Common Poorwill and Mexican Whip-poor-will.
