. The flooded Colorado River is already dropping here and both parks Big and Little near Webberville are open but the boat ramps remain closed of course. Bad but nothing like the 1991 floods which flooded both parks completely and closed the flooded the bridge at 969 for us locals as well as the Wibarger Ck bridge...on Lower Elgin. They are both well off the water. Lots of birds this morning..Lots of sparrows have arrived. Interesting was a rough count I made of 56 Caracaras in wet fields feeding on drowned earthworms and whatever else came up from the ground...The park road in Big Webberville was littered with dead earthworms. Had a single Bald Eagle. Best bird I suppose was a late Summer Tanager and yellow warbler I just could get my shoulder high enough to look at well (I took a tumble :-). Probably a Wilson,s but might be wrong ...both in the Big Park Blue Jays and Crows are everywhere as well a couple of huge flocks of Wht-winged Doves. Also a bit off topic, but I checked my old phone today where I could finally get coverage...There were oodles of messages and text on there often on decent birds...Pls. note the phone number in the signature is the only one that I get any decent coverage on...the old number I rarely check.. I regret missing some of those messages and there were text notes from phone no.s I did not recognize on a bunch.. ********************************************************************** Brush Freeman 503-551-5150 Cell http://texasnaturenotes.blogspot.com/ Finca Alacranes., Utley,Texas Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
