Hi All,
At Warbler Woods this evening at approximately 8:30 p.m. I saw one
Chuck-will's-widow fly right over my head when it flushed as I was trying to
sneak up on him as he was calling. A few minutes later another Chuck flew
right in front of me over the trail. There were at least 3 Chuck's calling at
the same time and possibly as many as 5. I'll be going back tomorrow morning
to try for more/better views of this bird number 700 on my ABA list!
In case you're not familiar with it, Warbler Woods is an amazing birding site
on the outskirts of San Antonio and Susan Schaezler is a very gracious and
knowledgeable host.
