Texbirders: Harvey Laas and I birded Bains Lane off FM1489 in Waller County near I-10 for two hours this evening and had the most warbler species we have ever had in Waller county in one day (this is an inland county that we have heavily birded with no reliable migrant traps and few public parks). We had 13 warbler species and 32 total warblers. All but one warbler were in a total of about 5 trees near each other associating with chickadees on this rural dirt road. 3 Black-and-white Warbler males and female 4 Tennessee Warbler one male, three females 2 Nashville Warbler 2 Common Yellowthroat males 4 American Redstart two females. one male, one young male 1 Northern Parula male 5 Magnolia Warbler 2 Blackburnian Warbler males 4 Chestnut-sided Warbler males and female 2 Black-throated Green Warbler 1 Canada Warbler (FOS for me) 1 Wilson's Warbler male And 1 Northern Waterthrush at nearby Willpitz Rd. No orioles nor grosbeaks nor thrushes and only one vireo. I also spoke to Drew Dickert who had significant numbers of warblers, many orioles, wood-pewees tanagers and great crested flycatchers etc. this evening, in a small patch of woods in NW Houston near where US290 crosses Beltway 8. If you experienced the front passing through--you may want to be late for work tomorrow morning to check your local patch!
