Hi, all! Next week's VNC field trip will be up Wallace Road, which transects the Monte Cristo tract of the Lower Rio Grande Valley NWR. The wetland that I claim "always" has water on my website is now bone dry :-P, but there's a little water on the west side, but otherwise the habitat consist of thorn scrub, willows, and ag land; who knows what we may find (usually good for raptors at least)! The meeting place is the Flying J plaza off US 281 and Monte Cristo (park along the western part of the lot so we can find each other :-)). Cost is $5.00 per person, and all proceeds go to finance a school field trip to the VNC. If you're unfamiliar with this area I have a site page with a personal checklist up on my website: _http://miriameaglemon.com/Birding%20Pages/Hidalgo%20County%20Birding%20Page s/By%20Site/LRGV%20NWR%20-%20Monte%20Cristo%20Tracts.html_ (http://miriameaglemon.com/Birding%20Pages/Hidalgo%20County%20Birding%20Pages/By%20Site/LRGV% 20NWR%20-%20Monte%20Cristo%20Tracts.html) See you there, MB Mary Beth Stowe McAllen, TX _www.miriameaglemon.com_ (http://www.miriameaglemon.com/) Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
