Howdy All!
I was only able to get out a little this afternoon after the tsunami of schools
groups finished up at the park. I checked the Big Pine area of the lake trail
and was able to get Magnolia and Tennessee Warblers. I did a quick check of
Blackjack Nature Trail and the Indigos and Painted Buntings are singing away.
My last stop was the beaver pond section of the lake trail to check on how much
the beaver is flooding the trail. It was interesting almost being hit in the
face by an American Redstart that was chasing a bug. That area had a male and
female redstart and another Magnolia Warbler. Our Red-headed Woodpeckers have
been feeding on the roadsides and the campgrounds so people are getting really
great looks.
Join us in the morning at 8am at the park headquarters and we will go birding
around the park for a couple of hours and see what we can find.
