[texbirds] Tuesday morning birding, Hagerman NWR.

The species count was down considerably this week, most of that can be 
attributed to a scarcity of shorebirds.  There was a good number of shorebirds 
here last Saturday but there was also a Peregrine working the pads. So possibly 
that might have caused the shorebirds that were here to move on. We saw 28 
Least Terns feeding on the lake. We saw at least four Green Herons and 2 
Yellow-crowned Night-Herons at Meadow Pond. We had a total of 8 Loggerhead 
Shrikes.  That is encouraging. We saw a Wood Duck and a Red-headed woodpecker 
at Dead Woman Pond. Birds were very quite today, which is not unusual for late 
August. We ended the day with 55 species down from 74 last week.
