TexBirders,
I wanted to let those who may be interested know that the male Tropical Parula
that showed up at the King Ranch visitor center near Kingsville back in April
is still present. It did seem to have a pattern of being here one day and then
gone for 2 or 3 days to wherever (possibly into Kingsville) and then back. It
has been present for the past three days with some of the time being in a large
live oak by the visitor center but it is usually heard in the trees near the
southwest corner of the visitor center grounds. Interestingly, there have been
thoughts that two have been heard but I have not been able to confirm that. It
has expanded its repertoire of songs with one song type having a ventricular
quality to it, which may be causing this confusion.
Good birding,
Tom Langschied
