Hi, all! That was the big news: he's singing away, and pretty easy to find. When you enter the park, go straight through the four-way stop, and he's been hanging out on "this" side of the terra cotta restroom with the park rules posted on it. I first heard him from the boat ramp, actually, and could still hear him on that back road paralleling the levee, so he's pretty loud! Had a couple of House Finches there, too, along the road that you'd be on if you were driving down the levee hump from the back area. Other nice birds in the park included the resident Beardless Tyrannulet, tons of egrets and Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, the Black Phoebe pair, a ghostly Scissor-tailed Flycatcher with an overgrown bill, and an Osprey. The most interesting thing along Old Military Hwy (besides the Bullock's Oriole at the entrance to Bentsen) was a Pearl Cockatiel! An adult Swainson's Hawk near the Lomita Mission was nice, and back at the Butterfly Center had the usual suspects including a confiding Long-billed Thrasher and Clay-colored Thrush, plus pretty Zebra Heliconians (dipped on the Silver Emperor, but Tawnies were out the yin yang). Ended with an even 60 species for the morning.
