This Friday, October 19th, Dr. Sue Heath, staff ornithologist with the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, will give a presentation about her research on American Oystercatchers. She will provide current information about the status and biology of these strange and beautiful birds. The program will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the auditorium of the nature center. Kleb Woods Nature Center is located 7 miles west of Tomball on Draper Road off Mueschke Road. All programs are free and all ages are welcome. Arnold, History of the Texas Ornithological Society Dr. Arnold is an Ornithology Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University. He has worked and studied Texas birds for more than 40 years and has been a participant and member of the Texas Ornithological Society. Nov 16: Cin-ty A. Lee, Shorebird identification: from the feather to gestalt Dr. Lee is a professor at Rice University and has written numerous articles on bird identification for several national publications. His favored group is shorebirds and few people understand the plumage sequences and finer points of the group's identification better than Dr. Lee. Dec 7: Fred Collins, Sparrows: Their identification and habits Mr. Collins is the Director of Kleb Woods Nature Center. He has been chasing sparrows across Texas for 50 years and will share what he has learned of the sparrows' habits, haunts, and other clues for their identification.
