Hi all: Ah, north winds - very nice. No t-storms, better. A very nice, if not spectacular, flight today, with goodly numbers of Broad-winged Hawks and, for the date, Mississippi Kites. The raptor flight was punctuated by occasional birds of other species, but not many of anything other than the two regular accipiter species. White Ibis continue to pour by, and a fair number of Anhingas followed suit. Counted migrating raptors: Osprey 1 Mississippi Kite 69 (all juvs) Northern Harrier 4 (all juvs, 2 male) Sharp-shinned Hawk 13 (all juvs) Cooper's Hawk 40 (all juvs) Broad-winged Hawk 945 (all but 7 of the 686 aged birds were juvs) Swainson's Hawk 1 adult light American Kestrel 6 (4f, 2m) Merlin 1 Peregrine Falcon 5 (1 ad, 1 juv, 3u) Bird of the Day: The juv Broad-wing that circled right over the tower permitting nearly full-frame photos.
