Hi Texbirders,
I'm a British birder and I'll be attending a conference in Florida next
week, so am flying out a few days early to do 4-days birding in Texas
before flying on to Florida for my conference. I'm in Texas between Sat. 6
- Weds 10 Feb.
I've a hit-list of birds that I want to see over the few days, which I've
cleaned from eBird - Green Parakeet, Golden-crowned Warbler,
Crimson-collared Grosbeak, Tropical Parula, Northern Jacana, Groove-billed
Ani and Aplomado Falcon.
As I'm quite short on time, I'll be concentrating on seeing the birds on my
hit-list, and then if time allows doing some more general birding.
One of birds on my list is Aplomado Falcon. I know that the falcons can be
seen on the organised bird tours from Laguna Atascosa, but I also not that
they've been seen along Hwy 100, west of Laguna Vista.
Can anyone tell me how regularly they're seen along here and what they
strategy would be? Would this be a better alternative than spending a whole
morning in Laguna Atascosa? I also need Groove-billed Ani so was going to
try the nearby Laguna Vista Nature Trail - is this a regular sight?
