I had a beautiful male Scott’s Oriole come through my yard this morning. Only
got a few short looks, never caught it out there again. A few days ago, I
observed some great corvid behavior. I occasionally put out a homemade bark
butter as a treat on a couple trees in my yard. At least 2 blue jays would go
to the butter, eat a bite or two and then grab a really big amount to go and
stash around the yard. They were splitting the chunk up into smaller pieces
and going to many places in the trees like holes in limbs to leave it. Then
they would go back to get more. They would make several trips, hoarding this
treat for later. Also had a couple newly fledged cardinals come to the feeder
and bark butter with their mom.
