Hello, this is the San Antonio Audubon Society with our August 22 recording of recent bird sightings and an update on coming activities. And thank you for reporting your birds to this tape so others can find them. The San Antonio Audubon Society has been a birding, education, and conservation club since 1954. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 7 PM and have a new meeting place at the First Tee, 915 E Mulberry at the south end of Brackenridge Park. The program for September 7 is Sea World's Linda Weisenmiller speaking on Project Puffin a project at Matinicus Rock in Maine. All are welcomeno charge. We will also have our annual used book sale at this meeting,
so bring your checkbook for some really neat deals in nature books. The next outing will be to Warbler Woods, the Schaezlers' place on Old Wiederstein Rd on Tuesday, Sept 4.at 8 AM. From outbound I-35 Austin, take exit 176, Wiederstein Rd. Turn right on Wiederstein Rdand take the next left, Old Wiederstein Rd, After Dean Rd, look for the

The next Beginner's bird walk starts at the Judson Nature Trails near the Alamo Heights swimming pool on Viesca Street on Saturday, September 8.. Meet leader Georgina Schwartz at 8:00 AM. Directions: at the 5900 block on Broadway, turn west on Ogden Street and go to the stop sign at Greely St. Turn left one block and then right on Viesca and go to the parking lot on the left before the swimming pool. We have some binoculars to lend out, so bring a friend. Info at 210 342-2073. On Sunday, September 9, we are meeting leader Sandi Wheeler at the Crescent Bend Nature Park at 8 AM. From San Antonio take I-10 east to FM 1518, exit and go north to Schafer Rd and the brown sign to the park. Turn right and go 3 miles to the park on the left just before the Cibolo Creek crossing. Monday, September 24 we will be at Leon Creek Greenway at 12160 Babcock Rd. Meet leader Helen Rejzek at 8 AM at the parking lot. Bring water and snacks. Lunch at a local restaurant. Helen's number is 210-679-7437. San Antonio Audubon will be going to the Hawkwatch Celebration at Hazel Bazemore County park at Calallen in the Corpus Christi area on Sept 29. Meet leader Mariann Golden any time after 8 AM.To reach the park, take I-37 almost to Corpus Christi and exit on US 77
toward Kingsville. Take the next right on 624 and go to the park sign on the right at a stoplight just past the high school. Bring water, suncreen, snacks, insect repellant and a chair. Info Mariann at 210-650-4312. There will be bird walks at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center Beginning at 8 AM on the 1st Sunday, 2nd Sunday, 3rd Sunday, and the 2nd Tuesday, and the 4th Saturday. . The Mitchell Lake Audubon Center is open each Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 4. A small fee is charged since this place is now an Audubon Center. Just ring the buzzer and they will open the gate. Other hours are available by appointment. Just call the Center at 210-628-1639. The gate is on the left 0.7 mile south of loop 410 Moursund Blvd, exit #46. .There is a bird walk on the third Saturday of each month at 9 AM at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This is not a SAAS trip, butis usually very interesting. There is a fee for entrance to the garden.
