T.O.S. Sabine Woods was a bit slow today up until 1:45 PM, but a lot better than High Island has been recently. We had singles of Northern Waterthrush, Black-and-white Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Northern Parula, Bay-breasted, Yellow, and Chestnut-sided. At Texas Point NWR we added American Redstart. Especially after 1:45 PM, other migrants were much more numerous with large numbers of Orchard Orioles and Eastern Kingbirds and good numbers of Baltimore Orioles, Indigo Buntings and Painted Buntings and at least one Scarlet Tanager. Others were Philadelphia Vireo, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Great Crested Flycatcher, Swainson's Thrush, Wood Thrush, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Blue Grosbeak. Reported by other birders were Kentucky Warbler and Gray-cheeked Thrush. McFaddin NWR was interesting and we especially enjoyed 6+ easily approached Common Nighthawks and 3-4 Least Bitterns.
