Six of us set out on the bird walk this morning. Ducks were in short supply. Raptors were not. Red-shouldered Hawks were perched along the resaca (probably three not two but one was very difficult to see). Two Cooper's Hawks had an aerial interaction - whose turn to cover the feeding station? Also overhead, a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk, Harris's Hawk, and a 2nd year White-tailed Hawk. While looking for the Groove-billed Anis (not found this morning) we discovered a very cooperative Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. It was visible from the tram loop near North Mexican Olive trail and was busy in a large mesquite. While we see sapsuckers more frequently in this area, the only location where we have seen a great many sapsucker holes is to the left at the first tram road bridge. Two American Goldfinch were a nice surprise near the second bridge.
