Broad-winged Hawks were rising over the park this morning around 8:30.
There were a few Swainson's in the mix. Shortly after, around 150
Franklin's Gulls flew over. Later still, White Pelicans were circling
overhead.
On the ground, 27 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers spent the day in the
grasslands, Indigo Buntings were easy to see in the grass and bushes around
the first bridge as well as along the tram road.

A single Solitary Vireo was on Kiskadee Trail. Blue-winged Warblers were
near the trailhead but most of today's warblers were found on the latter
stretch of the tram road in the Sugar Hackberry woods and included
Black-and-white, Northern Parula, and Yellow-throated.

Altamira Orioles have been seen carrying nesting material. Golden-fronted
Woodpeckers are already feeding young.

This evening there was a brisk and chilly north wind when I biked around
the park. It was a little late to see what hawks might have come in to
roost so we'll find out tomorrow morning on the bird walk. Hope you'll
come join us.
