The park can now be accessed from both ends of New Carmen, although you may encounter work vehicles, particularly from the Hwy 281 end. The railroad track hump has been paved and New Carmen from FM 1732 to the park is now smooth driving the entire distance. At least when park staff and our first visitor of the day came through, New Carmen from Hwy 281 is still accessible. There is a lot of work being done on the road to get it ready for paving, but as through much of last week, you can get around the equipment. Signs are posted saying the road is closed to through traffic, but personal vehicles can still access the park.
