Just had a very odd but interesting sighting. Several of us have thought we heard the occasional Ani call from the inlet between the Kiskadee deck and 2nd bridge, but since there is no way to see into that area and the calls were short and at great intervals and there were no other reports we were not sure. Today I took the 2:30 tram out a little late to see if a hiker and pup needed a ride. Never found the hiker, but at the 2nd bridge I heard a number of loudly calling Groove-billed Ani. Six birds flew from the inlet to the large brush pile, where they were hopping around and visible for a few minutes until a large flock of Great-tailed Grackles congregated and chased the Ani into deeper woods.
