Spent two hours this morning at Lafitte's Cove without finding the Red-naped Sapsucker. Others who were there yesterday said it was not present there then, either. Quite an influx of birds associated with Thursday's Arctic cold front, however. Most surprising were two Pine Siskins calling as they flew overhead. Also new for this fall in the woods were a Golden-crowned Kinglet & a Brown Creeper. Still two, perhaps as many as four Red-breasted Nuthatches. Other interesting birds were a Barn Owl & a MALE (first I've ever seen in fall) Painted Bunting. Mike Austin, Friendswood
