I've never birded San Luis Pass before but wanted to try it this weekend. I'm planning on birding the bay side and the only directions I got from the TPWD trail site is to exit FM 3005 immediately before the toll bridge. Looking at Google Earth there seems to be a maze of dirt/sand roads to the pass and bay. I would appreciate any helpful information or tips about accessing this area including if there is an actual hiking trail with a trailhead. Also if these roads are easily accessible for a car. I know the gulf side can have deep sand that cars can get stuck in easily. Thanks in advance for any help.
