Made a late morning trek to Quintana for migrants today and was not disappointed, though I could have done with fewer mosquitoes. Birder tip: if you climb up onto the second level of the tower the " biting insects" are mostly left below you. The tower overlooks one of the water features and if you spend an hour or so there you can comfortably wait out about everything possible on this tiny sanctuary. Here's the list from today- in order seen (11am to 12:30): Blue Grosbeak-1 Painted Bunting-1 Indigo Bunting-3 Great-crested Flycatcher-1 Empidonax Flycatcher-1 Yellow Warbler-1 Common Yellowthroat-4 Gray Catbird-5 Summer Tanager-1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird-7 Ruby-crowned Kinglet-2 American Kestrel-1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak-2 Magnolia Warbler-1 White-winged Dove-2 Hope this cool weather and abundant migrants last a bit longer! Also checked on the Lazuli Bunting late the afternoon and found at GCBO yesterday, it's still there along with its Indigo cohorts. Life is better with birds!
