Hi everyone, I'm taking a trip with my wife and child to San Antonio in mid-March of this year. We have never been there before and would like to get in some birding to see some new birds for us. I'm taking the large part of one day to go on a tour of The King Ranch. We will be limited in the other areas that we bird by the fact that my daughter will be eight months old. We are staying on the Riverwalk and will be limited to fairly nearby places that we will be able to take her by stroller (we will have a car to drive to these locations). Some of the places we are looking at hitting are: the Riverwalk, Brackenridge Park, San Antonio Zoo, San Antonio Botanical Garden, and Friedrich Wilderness Park. Even though these places are not set in stone, they pretty much are what we are limited to as they are the closest to where we are staying. Any advice on these areas will be most appreciated. Even if that advice is to skip one of these areas because it isn't birdy that time of year. I realize it is slightly different each year, but should migration be going on at that time? Having never birded that part of the country before most of your local birds will be new ones to us, and thus we will definitely be interested in seeing them. Certain birds we'd love to see if possible are Golden-Fronted Woodpecker, Ladder-Backed Woodpecker, Western Scrub-Jay, Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher, Vermilion Flycatcher, Black-Chinned hummingbird, Golden-Fronted Warbler, Green Jay, and White-Tailed Hawk. If we can be of any assistance in helping anyone find birds in Illinois, we'd be most happy to. Thanks and have a great day, Kurt Frieders Aurora, IL Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
