I found and recorded a winter-type Wren in McKittrick Canyon of Guadalupe
Moumtains NP on 23 November. Eric Carpenter has made a sonogram of the call
notes and it appears that this is in fact a Pacific Wren. He has sent the
recording to a reviewer, so considering the history of the "species" in Texas,
I am waiting for that opinion before making any strong claim. The bird was in
the vegetation along the creek just up the canyon from Pratt Canyon.
