Greetings,
This may be premature, but then again it may be accurate. Melrose Woods in
eastern New Mexico has already had two Cassin's Finches reported in the
last few days.

An eBird alert for Randall County just popped up with Cassin's Finch
attending the feeders at Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The description seems
adequate. Hopefully someone will head out there with a camera and further
document this bird.

Could this spell the beginnings of an irruption? Red-breasted Nuthatch is
already showing up in huge numbers. Could Cassin's Finch be another? I
encourage state birders to travel to the Panhandle and Trans-Pecos and look
for this species.
