A pomarine jaeger was reported on Saturday by Jim Stevenson and 2 posts on
ebird Sunday on the west end of Galveston near San Luis pass. I located the
bird this morning about
7:45 AM on the beach, (gulf side), of the San Luis Pass bridge, on Galveston
Island. I watched it feeding on the beach near campers and fishermen. Like the
gulls, it seems
to associate food with vehicles as evidenced by it flying and landing near my
vehicle when I first stopped to glass for the bird. Right wing pretty weathered
but had no problem flying.
Photos are posted on my ebird post. My ebird map location is accurate for where
I saw the bird.
