Greetings, While driving north along state highway 70this evening, I hit a Common Poorwill along the northern edge of the Canadian River basin in Roberts County. This is possibly the first eBird record for the species for the county. Unfortunately, it was not safe to pick up the specimen. There have already been reports of the species from Palo Duro Canyon this month, but this is the furthest north one has been reported in Texas this year. I've always wondered how far north this species actually winters in the state.
