TexBirders, Gerald Duhon discovered a Pacific Loon at Pleasure Island (UTC #22) this morning. The bird is in Sabine Lake on the North Levee Road just after the speed bumps start. The bird was among a raft of ~40 Horned Grebes with a few Common Loons sometimes also in the area and they cycled between the areas of the first and third speed bumps. The Loon and Grebes were very close to shore and were easily viewed and photographed by several people. The birds were right off the rocks within 20 feet of the road at some points and did not seem especially put off by people and cars on the road (they did give a wider berth to fisherman on the rocks). The Loon was visible in this area all day from ~10:30am until after 5:30pm. Good luck to anyone who goes looking!
