There are 13 species of owls that occur in Texas on an annual basis. 10 species breed in the state annually with perhaps two more rare species nesting more regularly than currently thought. Adding these species to your life list or year list can present some unusual efforts and challenges. Kendra Kocab will examine the salient features of each species. The program will feature specimens from the Biodiversity Research and Teaching Collections at Texas A&M University. I will then talk about specific times and places to find each owl in Texas. The program will be Wednesday March 13, 2013 beginning at 1:30 PM at Kleb Woods Nature Center. The program may run long since I can get carried away when talking about when and where to find birds. The program is free and you do not need to RSVP, just come and learn a bit about some of Texas' most interesting creatures.
