The Houston chronicle has a feature article on the spill and a lot of
aerial shots showing the flow of the oil
http://www.chron.com/

The oil is going out into the gulf and is really messing up the beaches
along Boedecker road and out at the Galveston jetty. The oil then flows
through the jetty and moves west down the island. The jetty does nothing to
stop the oil but is surely oil coated out where you cannot walk etc.

The oil is also in the port of Galveston, the ferry landing etc. So all the
birds that normally feed behind the shrimp boats or follow the ferry would
now feed in an oil slick. Theoretically there are no boats to follow but
they are letting some boats through like cruise ships so there will be
followers.

There is a picture of one dead cormorant converted to an oil ball.
