I was asked a question: "Where do you buy one of these TOS handbooks? " Texas A&M University Press publishes the book and when the new edition comes out next spring (mid-March) that would be the first place to get one. I do not know if they still have the current 2004 edition available. The royalties from the sale of the handbook go to TOS (Texas Ornithological Society). I just checked Amazon and used copies of the 2004 edition go for as little as $2.50, new copies for as little as $6.50. Amazon sells it for about $25. When you see how valuable it is to you as a Texas birder you may want to kiss Brush Freeman and Mark Lockwood for doing it and join TOS to thank them as well. TOS gets very little for each book sold. It is a labor of love and a gift to Texas birders that it is produced at all. Personally I have one by my "chair" at home, at my desk at home and on my desk at my office. Neither I nor Harris County has any interest in this publication and this is my personal opinion not that of Harris County or any government officials.
