During my time on site (Tuesday, 12:40 pm to 5:40 pm and Wednesday 7:12 am to 11:40 am) there were no sightings of the Gray-crowned Yellowthroat. Â We thought that the bird was heard (single, two-note call) a few times in the area just east of the gazebo, and in the main viewing area, 50 yards south of the gazebo. Â At least five birders were on-hand most of the time. Â The most common bird seen in the targeted areas was Orange-crowned Warbler. Â A male Common Yellowthroat was seen on and off near the gazebo. Â The reported sighting for Tuesday morning may have been the latter bird. Thanks, John, at the park office for telling me about the Long-tailed Duck. Â I saw it yesterday, the 28th, on a pond on the east side of FM 1015, about 2.9 miles south of Hwy 490 (around 4 miles south of Lasara). Â There is a good parking lot at the site. Â A scope would be very helpful.
