There is an interesting study with photos regarding the individuality of
nightjar use of camouflage. It seems individual birds are a bit different in
appearance and choose ground-nesting sites that match their individual
patterns. Such choices may indicate a greater self-awareness than we normally
attribute to birds. Itâs worth a read.
