Just reading all the interesting comments about the mockingbird and its proximity to Galveston, the ship-board hypothesis, etc. One thing I think we might consider is the probability of a Tropical Mockingbird being overlooked for days, weeks, months, even years along the Texas Coast. Let's face it, if this bird had was a few miles up or down the coast from Sabine Woods where it received the appropriate scrutiny, it would likely have not been noticed at all. Who knows how long it has been puttering around the Texas coast, unseen by or disregarded by birders? Chris Harrison San Antonio
