Yesterday Judy Kestner, Teri Zambon, Teresa K. and I birded Rio Grande Village. We had a brilliantly colored male Blackburnian Warbler on the other side of the road from the Black Hawk nesting area on the way to the Hot Springs Trailhead. The bird was seen well by all four of us, as it flew across the road right in front of us and landed in a cottonwood tree on the north side of the road. This is in a grassy, treed area. The lighting was excellent, and we are 100 percent sure of this identification. Surprised us all, and may very well be the best bird of the trip.
