A female Long-tailed Duck was observed this morning from about 7-8 am in Carancuhua Bay where it bends near Hwy 35. This is in Jackson County and between Palacios and Point Comfort, about 1 mile east of the Hwy 35 bridge that crosses Carancuhua Bay. The bird was in the NE corner of the bay that is near Hwy 35 (left of the boat ramp area) swimming with Lesser Scaup. This morning it was about 200 yards from the highway and identifiable with binocs but a scope is better especially since it could move farther into the bay. Good birding!
