On Friday November 23 at around noon, Ihad a female/immature Ladder-backed Woodpecker in Laffite's Cove,Galveston (Galveston County) in a leafless tree on the southern edgeof the woodlot, seen from near the Pagoda. Slightly earlier, Janahad a Black-throated Green Warbler at the central drip. On Saturday November 24, at dusk, RossForeman, Jana and I had a Lesser Nighthawk over Laffite's Cove. Thesilent bird was first seen over the northern part of the Sanctuary, but after two or three minutes it moved and foraged low over the pondacross the road from the preserve parking area for five or tenminutes. It eventually worked further west and was lost to sight. Itwas difficult to see the bar on the outer wing, but it appeared to becloser to the tip than would be that of a Common Nighthawk. Thewingtip had a slightly rounded tip. It did not call at all. John A.
