Below is an announcement for a Photography BioBlitz at Kleb Woods on October 4.
All are welcome, and I hope you will help us spread the word. Also, we would
like to have more identification experts in the fields of entomology,
herpetology, mycology, and botany. So, if you know of anyone who may be
interested, please let me know.
On Wednesday, October 4, Kleb Woods will be having a photography BioBlitz. All
are welcome, not just photographers! We would like photographic evidence of as
many species of plants, animals, etc that we can find. From 7 AM to 5 PM, we
will have staff and other identification experts on hand to help determine what
you are photographing. We will also have our regularly scheduled bird walk that
day from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
You do not need an expensive camera to participate. Even smartphone photos are
helpful. While we appreciate nice photos that we can use in posters,
presentations, etc., we also welcome "documentation photos" (i.e. evidence the
plant or critter existed, even if the photo isn't that great). There are many
species that we know to be at Kleb Woods that we do not have photos for (or the
photos are older, low resolution, etc.). Even common species, like yaupon,
loblolly pine and Blue Jay need more/better photos!
Please make sure you sign in at the Nature Center when you arrive and pick up a
copy of our wish list and suggestions for photographers. Before you leave, you
can use a card reader in the Nature Center to download your photos. If you
prefer to process your photos at home, please bring them back so we can see
everything you photographed.
