Susan is right, the mic is a 25.00 birding lifesaver.

It is by no means a shotgun mic like a sennheiser, but works many many times
better than the iPhone mic. The mic itself is about the size of a pencil
eraser - very small and very unobtrusive.

I hang my phone w mic around my neck on a lanyard to get quick bird recordings.

One thing I would recommend for any iPhone external mic is getting a good
little recording app (most under 5.00) so you can record at the highest quality
possible - at least the highest quality the iPhone can muster.

Everyone, happy Friday, and have a great weekend.

This. Item is very important for our auditory Ebird reviewer, I can document a
song or call and send to him. Used to be. $25 on Amazon and was recommended on
the recording group. Many times it is easier to record than get a picture, or I
should say impossible to get a picture!
