Ellis Vonasek and I spent 3 hrs at the north unit of Richland Creek WMA
this morning. Birds of the day were 11 Hudsonian and 2 Marbled Godwits.
Mudflats were extensive, and we also had 200+ Wilson's Phalaropes, 50+
White-rumped Sandpipers, 30 Stilt Sandpipers, 2 Dunlin and a smattering of
other shorebirds. Other interesting birds were 2 Wild Turkeys, 5 Caspian, 2
Least and 1 Black Tern.
Seven Hudsonian Godwits, the Stilt Sandpipers and all the terns were to the
right of the main road in, after it turns right (east) and just before it
turns left (north). Continuing on the main road in until it Ts, take the
road left, which then turns north again. There were many ducks and some
shorebirds to the left here, including 4 Hudsonian and 2 Marbled Godwits.
