[texbirds] Houston Chronicle's Hunting Article Misidentifes Long-billed Dowitcher as a Wilson's Snipe

Unfortunately, the Chronicle ran an article this morning on snipe hunting that 
has a big (and quite good) picture taken by the author of a Long-billed 
Dowitcher - labeled as a Wilson’s Snipe.  The author, Shannon Tompkins, 
obviously does not know the difference between the snipe, a game bird, and 
the dowitcher, a federally-protected shorebird.  I know he is not alone in 
this innocent yet serious mistake.  Have had a friend show me his haul of 
dowitchers he thought were snipe.  I am and will remain pro-hunting as I think 
we share in the love of the outdoors and preservation of marsh habitats.  But 
this one deserves a prominent retraction and brings into question whether 
hunting should be allowed on species the average hunter cannot separate from 
similar protected species.
