Maggie Burnett and I had a quiet but productive morning at Hornsby Bend today (23 Sept). The woods on the Platt side of the property had a very vocal Couch's Kingbird near the old Platt house and a first-year Tennessee Warbler near the main trail as you get close to Platt Pond. The real highlight was an American Golden-Plover (photographed) which was vocalizing before landing in the drying basins just north of the ponds. Back at home (off Southwest Pkwy in SW Austin), a Red-breasted Nuthatch continues for the third consecutive day, coming into the regular feeder and also drinking from the hummingbird feeder's water moat. -- Eric Carpenter Austin Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
