Greetings All:
On Sunday I spent four hours exploring MacKenzie Park, Mae Simmons Park,
and Lake Six.
Highlights included 3 Cackling Geese at Mae Simmons Park, 2 Canada Geese at
Mae Simmons Park (all geese were flightworthy as a menacing dog shifted
them from Mae Simmons Park to a spot about 100 meters downstream at Lake
Six), 1 Snowy Egret at MacKenzie Park, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo at Lake Six,
2 adult Verdins (carrying food items) at Lake Six, 2 adult and 1 fledgling
Carolina Wrens at Mae Simmons Park, 1 singing male Common Yellowthroat at
Mae Simmons Park, and 1 male Bronzed Cowbird at Lake Six.
Things should pick up a bit as we close in on the post-breeding wanderers
of July/August, the shorebirds, and the early songbirds.
