I spent a few hours in Lynn County yesterday, checking out Tahoka Lake
Pasture and the FM 2956 Playa.
Highlights included 16 Blue-winged Teals at the FM 2956 Playa, 8
Blue-winged Teals southeast of Wilson, 5 Blue-winged Teals at Tahoka Lake,
11 Cinnamon Teals at the FM 2956 Playa, 4 Cinnamon Teals at Tahoka Lake, 5
Black-necked Stilts at the FM 2956 Playa, 4 Black-necked Stilts at Tahoka
Lake, 12 American Avocets southeast of Wilson, 174 American Avocets at
Tahoka Lake, 14 Snowy Plovers at Tahoka Lake, 7 Stilt Sandpipers at Tahoka
Lake, 3 Baird's Sandpipers at the FM 2956 Playa, 7 Baird's Sandpipers at
Tahoka Lake, 101 Least Sandpipers at Tahoka Lake, 51 Western Sandpipers at
Tahoka Lake, 29 Semipalmated Sandpipers at Tahoka Lake, 24 Long-billed
Dowitchers at Tahoka Lake, 2 Wilson's Snipes at Tahoka Lake, 7 Greater
Yellowlegs at Tahoka Lake, 15 Lesser Yellowlegs at Tahoka Lake, 6
Franklin's Gulls at Tahoka Lake, 1 Western Kingbird east of Tahoka, 2
Western Kingbirds at the FM 2956 Playa, 2 Western Kingbirds southeast of
Wilson, 1 Western Kingbird at Tahoka Lake Pasture, 2 Western Kingbirds in
Wilson, 7 American Pipits at Tahoka Lake, 6 Chipping Sparrows at Tahoka
Lake Pasture, 1 Lark Bunting at Tahoka Lake Pasture, and 2 Bullock's
Orioles at Tahoka Lake Pasture.
It was also nice to see so many singing/displaying Cassin's Sparrows at
Tahoka Lake Pasture.
