Greetings All: I spent a little over two hours at Clapp Park today and can assure folk that, regrettably, the Evening Grosbeak was not present at its former site from 8:15 to 10:15. The large group of American Robins that it was hanging around with was also absent, though, and it is always possible that when they make it back (if they make it back) to the park they will have the grosbeak in tow. I would like to thank a couple of out of town folk for staking the site out while I explored the rest of the park and for be willing to play phone tag with me a bit before I left the site. I hope that they found some other interesting things in the region that made the detour to Lubbock worth the while. I did have a few highlights during the visit, though, including 6 Greater Yellowlegs enjoying the last of the rapidly retreating shoreline, 1 Wilson's Snipe in the northeast playa, 1 Peregine Falcon on the nearby water tower, 1 Townsend's Solitaire at the juniper grove, and 1 Gray Catbird holding tough in the big willow thicket at the western end of the berm.
