Sunday morning, hiked dog canyon in the Guadalupe mts. Stellar's Jay flock was
down near the campground mixing with the scrub jays, mountain chickadee there
but no juniper titmouse located, up higher male and female Williamson's
sapsucker (well apart), and a flock of 5 maybe 6 (need to check photo) Cassin's
Finch, have decent id photos with face detail on the females even though the
flock stayed up high in ponderosa. multiple townsend's solitaire and robin,
white-breasted nuthatch, acorn woodpeckers, ladder-backed woodpecker,
"red-shafted" Northern Flicker, male Phainopepla, Ruby-crowned Kinglets,
Chipping Sparrows, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, Spotted Towhee, Canyon Towhee,
Lincoln's Sparrow, Song Sparrow, three varieties of Dark-eyed Junco, Kestrel,
Sharp-shinned Hawk, and two ravens. Had a brief look at a single fast moving
warbler up high in ponderosa but could not see enough detail for id.
