I don't know how rare it is but the Greens sometimes use their insects as bait 
on the water to draw in fish. I have only seen the behavior once or twice. It 
would certainly be worth watching for.

The Green Heron in the IBM pond (Austin) will sit in the same spot hunting 
dragonflies. He positioned himself where there are a lot of dragonflies and 
catches them when they fly by. The heron also will sort of jump up to catch 
them.
